Winter is Coming ...

Hello, my pretties. Can you feel it? Winter is most decidedly on its way, its imminent arrival heralded by the sound of furnaces kicking in during the wee hours this past month.

It has been a while since the insomniac  made an appearance on this blog or the internet in general and, in typical Canadian fashion, would like to apologize profusely for her lack of interaction on your Blogs, Facebook pages, Google+, &tc.

The hotel renovation is slowly winding down, and with the return of cooler temperatures one is already beginning to feel the urge to withdraw into her normal state of self-imposed wintery seclusion - knitting needles in one hand and warm beverage in the other - until spring returns, with only an occasional foray into town for ... er ... supplies. Those being, in no particular order:   1) alcohol;  2) coffee;  3) more wool;  4) possibly some snacks.

By month's end, a large project currently consuming every available minute will be complete, and there are plans to return to her real life on the internet October 1st, beginning with a Hallowe'en themed giveaway. Because it has been quite a while, hasn't it? Again ... terribly sorry.

And if you feel you really can't wait until then for the insomniac's  return, you could always follow her on Instagram where any day now - along with all those adorable videos of moose and deer and every single bird that lives in the Spooky Forest - you'll be able to enjoy one of her having a total meltdown as she attempts to finish four relatively complex costumes in time for the Calgary Witches Night Out fundraiser on September 24th. The event where every single witch in attendance will be on the Best Dressed List except herself, since her outfit is last on the list and likely won't even be started until the evening of September 23rd. Around midnight. Which is also completely normal behavior around here, as we all know.

See you on the 1st.

Until next time, the insomniac  wishes you nights of blissful sleep filled with pleasant dreams. Goodnight, my pretties.

    1. It was a good day today, Debbi ... one outfit down, only three more to go. I'm now feeling a little more optimistic that I can pull this off than I was a few days ago! I'm looking forward to getting back into the groove - I really miss everyone. ❤

  3. Witches Night Out sounds like a blast! Very wise to hold it in September before all the Samhain festivities occur.

    1. I'm REALLY excited about the event, Debra! And yes, I'm also very glad it's being held at the end of this month instead of in October. I hope it's a great success and they do it again next year. ❤

  5. How lovely that all the gang comes OUT to celebrate before the festive time of year! You will be Fabulous as always! I am sending you extra hugs in this comment to encourage your creative heart on ward! We have one week before our temps tank, and I am already packing away all white clothing and checking my socks for holes! The brats are already ASKing for knitted leg warmers !

    1. I'm so excited about this event, Debi! I don't get out much, but I'm really looking forward to this one.

Our weather got distinctly colder the past few days, and the 'dew' on the windows in the mornings is very close to becoming frost, I'm afraid. But how sweet they're asking for legwarmers! I can barely give my stuff away ... lol

I appreciate your warm hugs - I really do! And it was so odd but the minute I wrote this post, short as it may be, there was an instant lift in my spirits and the day of sewing went remarkably well as a result. I think I'm meant to be out here. Must be my destiny or something. ❤

  6. The Witches Night Out sounds fun! Can't wait to see the pics! If only we all had Samantha's witchy nose-wiggle to solve the *I've-taken-too-much-on-meltdowns*. I feel your pain. ;D Best wishes for finishing the outfits on time! ❤

    1. When I'm not in the middle of a meltdown, I'm really very excited about the party, Emma! lol

I wish I had Samantha's witchy nose-wiggle just to help get the sewing done on time. I'm guessing (and the spouse concurs) that I'm well past the point of ever learning how to avoid the *I've-taken-on-too-much* situations I seem to regularly find myself in. I think Forced Seclusion is my only hope. ❤

  7. I have to admit, I don't blog nearly as much as I used to either. Twitter and Instagram are faster and frankly, most folks don't seem to want to take the time to read blogs any more. Hope the Edith Head project goes well!

    1. I love Instagram, Ali! At least I feel like I'm still connecting with practically everyone who used to read my blog, although I'm pretty sure I've been gone so long most of them have probably given up by now. I've never gotten into Twitter ... probably a good thing - one more thing I wouldn't have checked over the last six months. I think you're right though - blogs just take too much time for folks to both write and read. I wonder if they'll become a thing of the past soon. :)

Thanks! Not a particularly good sewing day today. I feel like if you've taken out a seam six times, you should probably give up for the day. Bleh.

    1. Maybe you should start one, Lesthi ... what a great idea!! My cousin started one years ago in the small town she lived in, and finally had to give it up because it got to be too big! lol

I tried commenting on your post but I got an error - something about timing out or something and I should contact the owner of the blog. Anyway, happy birthday yesterday and I hope you had some leftover cupcakes for today! ❤

  10. Very nice hearing from you, Insomniac! I look forward to your upcoming posts.

Yes, winter is coming but it's still quite hot here. I have been noticing the drop in temperature up your way and I know that it will hit here soon enough. Still, the shorter days are already affecting my overall mood and this has me thinking about blog posts as well. I've been seriously negligent. There's just something about long nights and cold weather that fuels the creative spirit I suppose.

    1. Hey, Nightwind! I hope the 'voice in my head' that writes the blogs can come through with some good posts - she seems to have been on an extended vacation lately. Maybe she'll return once there's a few less items on my To Do List.

Frost this morning, but at least it's a month later this year! I think you're right about this time of year ... I seem to have way more energy and things I'd like to get done than I do in the summer, which is usually spent trying to find a shady spot where I can sit comfortably and drink my beer. I don't know how you stand it. :)

I'm very excited for the event and, even though it won't look at all good with my outfit, I'm going to take the camera so I can get some decent photos! :D

  13. I've missed your IA! Guess I'll have to delve into that Instagram a little bit and see how the hotel decorating project went?Although seeing what you create for Witches Night Out would be fun too, I fear I may lose "man points" so I better stick to the interior construction and painting projects.. :)

And I won't tell anyone you were looking at witch costumes if you don't - your secret is safe with me. It's a lot more interesting than looking at endless pictures of tongue and groove fir that need refinishing. ;)

I have more posts to write than I know what to do with - HorrorCon, Witches Night Out and a big one for the end of the month that I can't reveal yet - but soon! :D

  15. If you're so in love with death,
why dont you become a mortician?
    Moolah problems plaguing ya?
    Yeah, I reeelize your difficulty.
Let us fix that by reeelin'
you in to Our Lord Jesus...

    Dunno how important Seventh-Heaven
is to you, earthling... yet, if we DO NOT strive for that, or Purgatory, you for one shall be condemned to the Abyss o'Misery after this existence finite. And I wanna make DAMM sure you're going Upstairs with me. So, follow along if Seventh-Heaven is #1 on your list; if not, I fear for your indelible soul, lil one. Why? Why should I care about the salvation of the human race? Yes, I was an NDE -AND- I saw the Celestial City from far away. Aint that Treason enuff, earthling?

No, you DO NOT need to be a bro/nun living a cloistered life; however, what you must do is say these TWO things and totally mean them:

    You believe in Jesus?
    You love everyone else?
    If answered YES to both,
you'll join this sinfull mortal Upstairs for the most wildchild experience for time without end.

    God bless your indelible soul.
    cya Upstairs someday...
